Crep' Swing Festival May 2009 - Rennes, France

Edited: Thu, 05 Feb 2009

For the 2009 edition, a new team is in the saddle. With this new team come new longings and new ideas !

First of all : New dates ! The festival no longer takes place on the 1st week end of April but during a long week end in May : From Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th of May 2009. A three-day long festival to make the most of the bank holiday !!!

New teachers : This year, discover our all new teaching team ! Some of you may already know them... what brilliant teachers !

New locations :The lessons and evening parties will take place in a new location. For the Friday and Saturday parties, we have the pleasure to welcome you to one of Rennes's amazing concert halls, right in the heart of the city.

Unlike the previous editions, this year each participant will have to provide for their own food (but changes may still occur in this field).Another new aspect : we'll try to suggest accommodation solutions for those who are not from Rennes. Precise and practical information will be available mid-January. Meanwhile, we'll keep you posted if you subscribe to the mailing list.

Enjoy your 2009 Crep'Swing Festival !

Dances taught at Girona-Costa Brava Line-Dance

Edited: Mon, 02 Feb 2009

This last week we have taught or re-taught the following dances, in all of our classes and dancing nights (3 each week). Those which are mine will not be commented:

MOONLIGHT KISS. 64 counts. Easy Intermediate. My last dance. Excellent reviews from around the world, but will not comments my dancers point of
view. They love the music. With 3 very easy tracks and 1 re-start. Thanks to all who are dancing it throughout the world. If you need the music, just request it. Music is by Raul Malo, "Moonlight Kiss", from his soon-to-be-released brand new album. There's no other dances to this new track in Kick-It so give it a try.

GOOD TIME - A nice dance by Jenny Cain. This is the dance from the video-clip. 48 counts, 4 walls. Beginner. People have enjoyed it a lot. Music by Alan Jackson - Good Time (this has been the second teach)

C.C.S. - We recap this wonderful cha by Tracey Davis & Joerg Hammer. Did it to David Kersh "If I never stop loving you" and Gary Allan's "Living you against my will". One of the most famous dances here that we have done again for people that is dancing now for a few time. 32 counts. 4
walls.

CONRADO CHA. Another oldie by Ron Ingenthorn. Music by George Strait, I Just Want To Dance With You. Lovely.

REDNECK WOMAN. A dance by Suzanne Wilson & Crystal Collinsworth, done to the Gretchen Wilson track of the same name.

SAN LUCAS - My Own. 32 counts. 4 walls. Adv Beginner/Easy Intermediate. 32 counts. Music by Toby keith - Cabo San Lucas. 2nd Teach.

ROCK'N'ROLL QUEEN. My Own. Beginners. 32 counts. 4 walls. Music by Louis St. Louis - Rock'n'Roll Queen (OST Grease). 2nd Teach.

Thanks

Top Dancewear Store for Reading

Edited: Thu, 29 Jan 2009

Dancia International, Britain’s premier dancewear retailer, has opened its doors to Reading’s thousands of dance enthusiasts with the launch of its new branch in Caversham on 3rd January 2009.

Diane Kirkup, Director of Dancia International, said, “Reading was an obvious choice for the expansion of our network, as the town does not have a high street dancewear store despite an incredibly vibrant dance scene. Our shops are an “Aladdin’s cave” for dance and fitness enthusiasts of all ages, who know they will find everything they need, whether they’re just starting their first lesson or have been dancing for years. We’re looking forward to supplying Reading’s dancers with regulation leotards, tights, crossovers, bags and accessories, not to mention shoes for all styles of dancing including ballet, tap, street, Latin and ballroom.

Jude Chapman, proprietor of Dancia Reading, is very excited about her new branch. “Dancia will fill a longstanding gap in the market, and I know that people will travel to Caversham from all over Reading for our distinctive own-label garments, as well as those by leading brands such as Bloch, Capezio and Freed. Dancia is also the sole UK distributor of world-renowned Gaynor Minden pointe shoes, as worn by top ballerinas worldwide. Caversham has a fantastic array of shops, cafes and restaurants, with ample parking facilities, and I hope that our customers from further afield will make the most of what the area has to offer during their visits to Dancia.”

Monica Cleaver, private ballet teacher and Director of Mo’s Dance & Drama Schools, says she is delighted with the news. “The fitting of pointe shoes is a highly skilled job, and for many years I have taken my ballet students to Dancia’s London store. Now they can have access to Dancia’s trained staff without travelling outside of Reading. That has to be good news for all local ballet students”.

Dancia International is at 36-38 Prospect Street, Caversham, Reading RG4 8JL.
Opening hours: Mon-Fri:10am-5.30pm. Sat: 9.30am-5pm.
For further information, please call 0118 9478123.
