'Performing Arts Training Today' is inviting performers, teachers and students to the programme of practical workshops, performances, works-in-progress and presentations with performing arts experts from Russia, Singapore, Japan, Austria, UK and USA!

October 28-31, 2009

Retzhof Castle, Leitring/Leibnitz, Austria

The conference is a good chance to explore contemporary methods and techniques in performing arts education and training, to establish new contacts, to exchange experiences with colleagues from different countries and to lay the foundation for future networking and collaboration!

The conference will take place in the "Green Heart" of Austria - Styria Region (Steiermark), at the historic castle of the 15th century - about 30 min from Graz Thalerhof Airport, 2.5h from Vienna by car, 40 min from Graz by car. Accommodation and meals are organized for the group.

- *Japanese Noh and Suzuki techniques* - Workshop and presentation by Izumi Ashizawa - actress, director, artistic director of Izumi Ashizawa Performance, Assistant Professor of Acting and Movement, University of Maryland (Japan).

- *Performer's Physicality in the Methods of V.Meyerhold, M.Chekhov and K. Stanislavsky *- Workshop with Sergei Ostrenko - theatre director and teacher (Russia).

- *A Journey of Separation: Actor Training in Ireland* - Presentation with Janice Kennedy - performing arts educator and teacher (UK).

- *The Change We Should Be Making* *_ creating a better future through the arts* - Presentation with Adelina Ong - actor, performer, performing arts manager and educator (Singapore).

- *Teaching Avant-Garde Piano Techniques and the New Expressive, Sonorous, Artistic, and Performance Elements they Introduce* - Lecture-demonstration with elements of performance with Mira Kruja - musician, music scholar, performer and teacher (USA).

Held at Newcastle Dance Centre, this exciting two week school will be run by a fantastic team of qualified, police checked teachers. The school will be lead by Hayley Conway who has trained hundreds of youngsters as well as many celebrities such as Cheryl Cole and Ant & Dec, as well as working on many television programs for BBC, ITV and Sky.

Each day of the school will be different – singing, acting and various styles of dance will be covered. All cumulating in a display for the parents, and a certificate of achievement.

The conference is open to performers from all over the world interested in the research of topical questions and processes in contemporary performing arts education and training. This is a wonderful opportunity for performers, performing arts educators and teachers to demonstrate their methods and techniques.

- any other way of demonstration to the presenter's discretion

Sho Botham has made available her Foot exercise chart and Back exercises chart FREE to download from www.decodanz.co.uk. You will also find details there if you want to purchase the spikey and therapy balls that are recommended for the exercises. Flex bands too.

The exercises in these charts have had excellent feedback from social dancers, dancers and dance teachers as well as individuals who do not dance. They are also used in classes by teachers of exercise for older people.

UDC Dance Leeds CASTING CALL: Summer contract in Turkey 09
Hip Hop Show

The job: 14 male and female dancers performing a 45 minute Hip Hop show touring the 5 star Hotels in Turkey this Summer

Dates: 25th April – 15th October 09

Conditions: Return flights, travel in Turkey for performances, Visas, Accommodation consisting of two people per room with bathroom, TV and air conditioning, All meals provided, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Salary: $1000 USD a month cash in hand / There is an option to earn more money by doing additional performances. Time off: One full day off every 14 days

Who For: Male dancers: Break dancers of a high standard and must be able to pick up Hip Hop Choreography. Female dancers: Well trained dancers that are versatile in ability.

How to apply: You must send an up to date CV. Two professional photographs and a clear copy of your passport. Dancers that are new to UDC will need to attend an Audition. Reference: Applicant Turkey 09.

This is an opportunity to be shown around the School, to meet the Principal, other members of staff and pupils at the School and see performances by pupils on all the vocational courses.

UK tour of Tanja Liedtke's award-winning Twelfth Floor

Twelfth Floor Dance Touring Partnership is very proud to announce the UK tour of Tanja Liedtke's award-winning Twelfth Floor. This darkly funny and entertaining dance theatre production explores human behaviour in confinement by five outstanding performers who come from an impressive background of dance, theatre and circus, and have worked with Australian Dance Theatre and DV8 Physical Theatre. Twelfth Floor is a powerful and original piece of work, which in 2006 won the Australian Dance Awards for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Female Dancer.

The 14-venue tour will take the show to Coventry, Newcastle, Inverness, Stirling, Swindon, Nottingham, Brighton, London, Poole, Truro, Northampton, High Wycombe, Cardiff and Oxford. For dates and details of a venue near you and online booking visit the website.
