What is Australian 'New Vogue Style' Ballroom?
'Dance at 8's' Australian 'New Vogue Style' Ballroom is a subtle blend of American Smooth and European Ballroom resulting in an exciting Sequence style which enables dancers to express themselves using arm head and body moves within a set sequence of variations.
'Dance at 8' dancers love to dance American Smooth, but never really have the room to dance full out at Dances or Practice Sessions due to the nature of Smooth.
'New Vogue Style' works in a similar fashion to Sequence where all couples start and finish a 16 or 32 bar routine in the same position. The difference is, during the routine there are many options with arm, head and body positions making your routine sometimes quite different than the other couples.
Dancers will also have the chance to learn more advanced variations which in the past would not have been included in Modern Sequence routines.
'Dance at 8' will be launching 'New Vogue Style' Ballroom (Waltz & Tango) classes on Wednesday, August 12th from 8:30- 9:30pm in Malvern, Worcestershire at Club Dance UK. (WR14 1BY). Classes led by Professional Dance Champion and Coach Paul Pritchard from Dance at 8. So if you want to try something new and would like to inject some Real Style into your dancing, this is for you!

Tap dancer sets new Guinness World Record™

Tap dancer and choreographer Jo Scanlan has broken the world record to be crowned the world’s fastest tap dancer.

Jo of Swindon (England), smashed the existing record of 602 beats in a minute by 182 beats, during the “Boys V Girls” section of Sky 1's “Guinness World Records Smashed” on June 7 2009 setting a new and unprecedented Guinness World Record™ of 784.

To make the record attempt all that more difficult Jo was up against her student Joe Dodd from London, who is also a member of the England Tap Team, which Jo is head coach and co-artistic director of. "Joe Dodd is a phenomenally gifted young dancer, he is part of the England Tap Team which I coach, and was ranked 12th at the 2008 World Championships, so to be up against him made it all that more difficult to obtain the record “.

Jo has been tap dancing since she was 7, initially in the UK and then furthered her training after being awarded several scholarships to study in America. She has had opportunity to study privately and in residence with Dr Henry Le Tang, Dr Bunny Briggs, Barbara Duffy and Heather Cornell as well as taking master classes with Jason Samuels Smith, Arthur Duncan and Fayard Nicholas.

Jo now works as a performer, teacher and choreographer at some of the UK’s leading vocational establishments and runs tap company “Tap Attack” as well as training the “Tap Attack Youth Company”.

Enrol your son or daughter this summer on an exciting dance and performing arts Summer School.

Held at Newcastle Dance Centre, this exciting two week school will be run by a fantastic team of qualified, police checked teachers. The school will be lead by Hayley Conway who has trained hundreds of youngsters as well as many celebrities such as Cheryl Cole and Ant & Dec, as well as working on many television programs for BBC, ITV and Sky.

Each day of the school will be different – singing, acting and various styles of dance will be covered. All cumulating in a display for the parents, and a certificate of achievement.

Don’t let your child be bored – let us challenge, entertain and keep them fit this summer!
