World Tap Title for England

TA_Logo and feet_v02.jpg 15 year old Matthew Hill was recently crowned Junior Male World Tap Champion at the 2011 IDO World Tap Championships.
Matt from West Sussex was one of 31 dancers in the Tap Attack England Team, who competed in various categories at this year’s championships, held in Riesa, Germany from 29th November – 3rd December 2011.

This was the fourth consecutive year that England has been represented at the Championships which featured over 3000 tap dancers from 33 countries including Canada, USA, China and host country Germany.

Head coach and Guinness World Record Breaker, Jo Scanlan commented “After just four months of preparations the Tap Attack England Team achieved excellent results, including 30 medals, 9 trophies, and a world title for Matthew Hill in the Junior Male category. Other stand out results include silver medal in the Adult Small Groups, bronze medals in the Adult formation and Junior Duo’s and Trio’s”.

The team are a true representation of England with dancers travelling up to 4 hours to attend training sessions. The team have had a busy year seeing them reach the live semi finals for series 2 of Got to Dance and making their US debut in “United We Tap” in Boston.

Auditions will commence in February for tap dancers to join the company and associates.
